Tibetan Buddhist Festival: Buddha's Mother's Day

Tibetan Buddhist Festival: Buddha's Mother's Day
(Lha Bab Düchen)

Fish Release and Feast Offering
(Rain or shine)
Sunday, Nov. 12th, 2006, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Come join us rescue and release fish and perform a special chanting practice and festive feast. This commemorates one of the 12 Acts of Shakyamuni Buddha: His descent from Tushita heaven after teaching his mother the Dharma.

Ven. Lama Drimed Lodru, Ven. Gyatrul Rinpoche's nephew, will lead the practice. He is an ordained monk and an excellent Dharma student of some of the greatest masters from Tibet and India.

Free and open to all
Donation to the Lama customary
Donations to Orgyen Dorje Den welcome

Everyone is welcome to join this practice.
At 10 am we will meet in the parking lot across from Berkeley Marina Sports Center, 225 University Ave Berkeley. Bring cash to purchase fish, disposable gloves, a sitting cushion wrapped in plastic. Dress in layers. After the fish release we will return to Orgyen Dorje Den for a vegetarian potluck followed by chanting meditation and a feast offering.

Please bring food and drink to offer.

Practice texts will be available to use.

We will use the concise tsog practice called Shower of Blessings. This practice is based on Guru Rinpoche's Seven Line prayer and was composed by Lama Mipham Rinpoche (1846-1912). This guru yoga and tsog practice uses recitation of the seven line prayer to Guru Rinpoche and recitation of the Vajra Guru mantra to deepen our connection to our inherent Buddha Nature.
