BioChem Wk4: 5G what else
5G
was a popular topic of discussion today.
I think both groups pointed out different concerns and aspects of impacts
from 5G. For our group, we felt that we
need more concrete studies and reports.
Also, there should be an awareness of the source of the reports as often
the objectivity of the reports is in question.
In
one way, it is relevant to discuss potential health impact of 5G and the pro
and con. On the other hand, quite a few
Asian countries already roll out 5G for five or more years ago. There are advantages of 5G as one can see in
these Asian countries. It would be
interesting to see if we are able to collect data or analysis of 5G’s health
impact in Asia.
We
also think that it might take decades or more before we can fully understand
the impact of 5G. but, from now to 10
years, different technology will emerge. Should we wait or should we embrace? a true dilemma!
BioChem Wk4: phasing out of gas vehicle
I
think conceptually sounds like a good idea, but I would like to see more
factual data to support such decisions. According to some mechanical engineers,
some challenges of electric powered vehicle is its limit on horsepower and
battery sensitivities. In other words,
most electric vehicle cannot produce the initial torque nor has the horsepower
comparing to a 6-cylinder gasoline vehicle.
This is going to present huge challenge for any truck owner or rely a
truck to pull, toll, transport materials. When one is loading heavy items on an
electrical truck, it might have not only a speed issues and ability to drive uphill.
Secondly,
the battery has issues at cold weather that it drains much faster when the
temperature dip like during the winter season at the Sierra Foothill or Lake
Tahoe areas. There are many incidences
of hybrid vehicle battery quickly drained empty during the snow seasons at Lake
Tahoe so that they got stuck in the snow.
Third,
the electric rechargeable battery for automobile are so expensive. If there is
no sufficient warranty or technology breakthrough that more batter juice is
able to generate and storage, the replacement battery are hefty in price.
Fourth,
the price of hybrid or fully electrical vehicles like Tesla are quite expensive
and can be out of the budget for most people.
This really limit the affordability of the lower- and middle-class
people!
Thus,
there are a lot to consider.
